We show you how to solve quadratic inequalities. All quadratic inequalities have a term of the form ax².

The first example is when a=1. The tutorial shows you the common mistake that is often made in such questions and is a good place to start.

• Solve x² + 3x - 4 > 0

Next when a>1 (a positive value)

• Solve 2x² - x - 3 < 0

Now we look at negative values of the x² term

• Solve 10 - 3x - x² > 0

• Solve 6 - x - 2x² < 0

And here is a special one worth trying. Take note of the wording, it is a hint.

• Solve x² - 6x +2 > 0 giving your answers as exact values

Finally, some questions give inequalities which are mixed up.

• Solve 15 - x > 2x²

Hopefully now you should be able to solve any quadratic inequality.
