Quadratic Inequalities
Maths Revision Guide
We show you how to solve quadratic inequalities. All quadratic inequalities have a term of the form ax².
View our tutorials or try them first before checking your answer if you just need revision.
The first example is when a=1. The tutorial shows you the common mistake that is often made in such questions and is a good place to start.
Next when a>1 (a positive value)
Now we look at negative values of the x² term
And here is a special one worth trying. Take note of the wording, it is a hint.
- Solve x² - 6x +2 > 0 giving your answers as exact values
Finally, some questions give inequalities which are mixed up.
Hopefully now you should be able to solve any quadratic inequality.
