the gradient of the tangent to the curve y=ax+b is equal to 30 at the point (3,1). find the values of a and b.

Well im not sure but if you differentiate to get the gr function youll get:
dy/dx = 2ax = 30
ax = 15 at the point (3,1)
x = 3
3a = 15
a = 5
by substitution:
5*(9) + b = 1
b = -44
Not sure about that mind you.
