Hi pleeeeeeeeeeeze can you help me. Stuck on this Edexcel Jan 2006 C1 question

The line L has equation y=5-2x

(a) Show that the point P(3,-1) lies on L.

(b) Find an equation of the line perpendicular to L, which passes through P. Give your answer in the form ax+by+c=0, where a, b and c are integers.

a) substitute x= -1 and y =3, and if the equation works... the line passes through the point.

b) gradient of line perpendicular = 1/2

passes through (3, -1)

y+1/ x-3 = 1/2

y+ 1 = 1/2x -3/2

2y + 2 = x - 3

x - 2y - 5 = 0
